The Orange County Great Park was officially created on July 14, 2007, following the closure of the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in 1999. Voters approved Measure W in 2001 to transform the 3,200-acre military base into a public park. The Great Park now occupies about 500 acres of that site, with long-term plans to eventually develop 1,347 acres. The park sits in central Irvine, making it a gathering place for residents from across Orange County.

The park's design emphasizes sports, agriculture, and the arts. It includes a 5,000-seat soccer stadium, an ice skating facility with four sheets, 24 soccer fields, 12 baseball and softball fields, 25 tennis courts, and a water park. The signature feature is the Great Park Balloon, a 500-foot observation ride offering views across Orange County. The Farm+Food Lab hosts a farmers market and educational programs about sustainable agriculture. Restored trails follow Agua Chinon Creek, which had been buried for decades.

A public park like this one becomes a backdrop to childhood memories—Sunday soccer games, skating lessons, family picnics. These are the moments families protect with insurance: the years when a child is learning to play, when a parent is coaching from the sidelines, when routines and traditions matter most. A term policy is sized for exactly those years.
